I joined Jon Faine again on 15 April 2013 to co-host a special conversation hour to talk about the work of BlazeAid, a volunteer organisation established immendiately after the Black Saturday bushfire of 2009.
BlazeAid was established by Kevin and Rhonda Butler to help rebuild and repair damaged fences on farms after the Blcak Saturday fires as a way of giving something back after volunteers helped them with their fencing after fire swept through their property. The orgnisation has now helped after fires in a number of other states, and has extended its work to other natural disasters such as flood and cyclone.
But BlazeAid now needs all our help now as demand for its wonderful work is exceeding its current resources and capacity – it’s time for us to return the favour!
Jon and I talked with Kevin and Rhonda Butler, and were then they are joined by volunteer and BlazeAid camp co-ordinator for Maffra-Heyfield, Angus Guild and farmers Keith Vardy and Deborah Rogers. BlazeAid assisted Keith and Deborah after their cattle farm was burnt out in January this year.
Amazing sharing the story of what amazing work volunteers do for communities and individuals in difficulty!
