ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:

The Photo for Freedom – Volta project is designed to focus on and bring attention to child slavery in the African country of Ghana. In early 2011, Melbourne based photographer Tom Goldner conducted a photographic journey and study of individuals, communities, landscapes, daily life and work around the Lake Volta region.

Tom’s award-winning images of this journey will be proudly displayed in the michaels Photographic Gallery with the goal of raising public awareness and funding to assist anti-trafficking organisations move towards sustainable change and overcome child slavery.Join us for the exhibitions opening night. Take the opportunity to meet Tom, discuss his work as well as his journey, hear from esteemed special guest speaker Bruce Esplin and have a quiet glass of wine or beer to end the working week.Images will be available for sale on the night and throughout the exhibition. There will also be a raffle giving you the chance to win one of Tom’s photos.ABOUT TOM GOLDNER:An experienced portrait photographer, Tom Goldner changed his professional direction in 2010 after becoming involved with charity organisation YGAP and now focuses on raising community awareness through his powerful imagery. With a strong passion for sustainable community growth and development,Tom’s primary goal is to effect social change through his photographic projects.

ABOUT BRUCE ESPLIN

Bruce is the Deputy Chairman of the board of Regional Arts Victoria, and a board member of Green Cross Australia. His company provides expert advice in the corporate and not for profit sector.

The former Victorian Emergency Services Commissioner (10 years), he held senior positions in emergency management in Victoria for over 20 years. He was awarded the Centenary Medal for public service in the emergency management sector.

Bruce is a committed photographer and sculptor and is a very passionate advocate and frequent speaker on the roles art can play in assisting individuals and communities rebuild their lives after trauma.
